Children's Sunday School Classes - Sunday School will be held for children ages 3 through Elementary School during the morning worship service. All the children ages 3 years through Elementary School are encouraged to come into the worship service with their parents. Following the "Time for the Children" portion of our worship service, the kids will be dismissed for "Kid's Worship".
United Methodist Women - Since 1869, women in the Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren traditions have led a struggle for human rights and social justice. The generation of women who founded the early missionary societies developed powerful networks and organizational structures to help women attain full participation in the life of the church and society.
In the early years of the womens mission organizations, the focus was on sending missionaries and helping to change the lives of women and girls in foreign lands. They incorporated the values of home and family into public life, as they addressed issues of poverty, child labor, immigration, migrant labor, family life, racial discrimination, full clergy rights for women, and many other social ills of the day..
Many problems faced by the women at the turn of the century have reemerged in our own time with a new and demanding urgency: new waves of immigration, homelessness, racial divisions, threats to the environment, substance abuse and addiction, lack of affordable health care, concerns for the well-being of children and the elderly, public education, questions about womens roles in society, and world peace.
Because of the faithfulness and courage of the millions of women who prayed, planned, organized, marched, petitioned, labored, and supported the work of the early missionary societies, the lives of countless individuals, especially women and children, have been irrevocably changed. Women, children and youth in our generation, and the ones that will follow us, are living the legacy of the womens missionary movement of the 19th century.
Meditations for Moms - All moms are welcome and encouraged to attend this care group. Together we enjoy...
- Sharing life skills
- Learning from our experiences
- Listening to each other
- Relaxing together
Red Hat Society - We are the women in the red hats. We are the mothers, grandmothers, and daughters of society. Little girls grow up, but they're never too old to play dress-up and have tea parties.
The standard answer to the question, "What do you do?" is... Nothing.
Our main responsibility is to have fun! We see this group as an opportunity for those who have shouldered various responsibilities at home and in the community their whole lives, to say goodbye to burdensome responsibilities and obligations for a little while. This is the place to have fun and enjoy yourself. The refrain of the popular Red Hat Society theme song by Mike Harline puts it rather bluntly: "All my life, I've done for you. Now it's my turn to do for me."
We feel like we have all been so dutiful and so "busy" for so long that we deserve a break. The Red Hat Society calls itself a "dis-organization," and we are proud of our lack of rules and by-laws. We are all helping to develop an enormous nurturing network or women over 50 (and under), by joining red-gloved hands and spreading the joy and companionship we are finding within and among the chapters. We have also discovered a "mission" of sorts: to gain higher visibility for women in our age group and to reshape the way we are viewed by today's culture. We are all familiar with groups of the past, which stridently sought to achieve their agendas. Well, we are decidedly UN-strident, but we hope to advance our agenda with good humor and laughter. If we do not join together under the banner of The Red Hat Society, but rather remain isolated, in unconnected groups, that will not happen. Therefore, we are working to build a dis-organization within which we can all connect and eventually take over the world.
Youth Group - Together, we plan and implement age appropriate activities that include Middle and High School age youth that promote community through fellowship, fun and faith development. We coordinate fundraising activities that support special youth activities and trips. There is a focus on Christian service through age appropriate service projects. The group is currently raising money for an Automatic External Defibrillator to place in our church in case of emergencies.
Kitchen Band - Our Kitchen Band is a fun and entertaining group of folks who travel around to different missions and nursing homes to share their love of music and our Lord. A recent performance at the Salvation Army produced the following note: "Thanks again for a great afternoon. God Bless your wonderful ministry of music". Check our Special Events Calendar for upcoming performances.
