Initiation Only Model

This model is designed for chapters who want a very basic experience with little faculty or student involvement. The Initiation Only model requires

  • A faculty counselor
  • Two elected officers (President and Treasurer)
  • One initiation per year
  • One chapter meeting a year
  • No chapter programming

Additional officers, committees or programs are optional. There are minimal chapter reporting and participation requirements. This model does require the chapter to initiate a higher percentage of eligible students each year than the other models since recruitment and retention is the primary focus.

Chapters who choose this model will only receive one structured conference call with the Regional Chapter Coordinator each year and will not receive an on-campus visit. Initiation-Only model chapters can receive awards designed for their model, but will not be eligible for all chapter award programs offered by the Society.

Any chapter may select this model. It may be good for

  • Institutions with a total college/department of education enrollment of less than 500
  • Those with a chapter size of less than 30
  • Institutions who have branch campuses or on-line students
  • Those who struggle with faculty or student involvement in chapter activities
