Project Summary

Our client is Wedding Planners, Inc., a professional wedding planning and consulting company located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The web presently offers many wonderful tools to assist a couple in planning their wedding.  However, many of these tools are rather impersonal and sometimes difficult to use. Our client’s goal is to develop a more personal experience for the user.  Among other features, Ourwedding.com will provide an opportunity for brides and grooms to leave remarks/feedback regarding their experiences with local vendors. New users can use this information to help them make decisions. The site will also provide photos and information about local ceremony and reception venues, which will also double as a way for local photographers to advertise their work.

Provide interactivity for users to leave feedback/remarks about local venues.

Provide an area where users can view various venues, which also allows photographers to advertise their work.

Website Objective

The objective of our client’s wedding planning web site is to provide users with personalized tools to assist them with planning the most important day of their lives.  Couples will use the site as their central scheduling agent, vendor and venue locator, and communication tool.  Interactive calendars will not only help the couple keep track of important dates, but also provide important email reminders for everyone involved.  For example, the wedding party can check on important dates and information such as when and where to get sized for dresses/tuxedos.  A tool this site will provide that seemed to be lacking on other similar sites is a way for users to leave feedback about vendors and venues and share their experiences. The will also include a way to view venues by certain search criteria which also acts as an advertising tool for photographers.

Target Audience and Platforms

This project will be designed as a personalized tool for couples planning a wedding.  The target audience will consist of males and females ranging from age 18-40, from various economical, educational, and sociological backgrounds.

Using a Windows or Macintosh platform, users will access the website mainly from personal computers and laptops.  Experience level will vary from novice to experienced computer users.  Browsers targeted for this site are Internet Explorer (IE 5.x – IE 6.x), Firefox, Opera, Safari, Mozilla, and Netscape (4.x -8.x).  Users will need internet access, and also an email account for registration and notification purposes.
