"As the hand grasped his jacket, he felt a curious jolting sensation as if the world had spun around twice, and before his eyes,
the bustle of busy people faded out from all around him. Mouth wide with horror, Julian spun around to face the one who
had done this--the man with the long hair and windbreaker who had been following him.
Only it wasn't him.
A youngish man stood there instead; short, nice-looking brown hair and a brown leather jacket. An oak leaf in the changing
colours of fall was thrust into the breast pocket of his coat, over his heart. Were his ears not outrageously pointed and extended
far past his head, and his eyes as cold as brown death, he might have appeared quite normal.
"You were right," said the man in the brown jacket conversationally to his victim, releasing Julian's shoulder and
putting both brown hands into his pockets. "You were being followed. Only, you were watching the wrong person." "
