Submission guidelines
- In Photoshop or Elements, do a "Save for Web". If you are working with a large file, you may get a message saying that the file is large. In this case re-size your image first by goinh to Image -> Resize and looking at pixels rather than inches, set it so that it is less than 1000 pixels wide (if a landscape shape) or 800 pixels tall if a portrait. For panoramas, please size your images to 1500 pixels wide so that more detail can be viewed.
- "Save for Web"- if you haven't re-sized your image, then do so here. In the Save for Web dialog screen, on the right side, there should be an area or tab for 'Image Size'. In this area, you can size your image to be 1000 wide or 800 tall (not to exceed either) and hit 'Apply'.
Next in the upper right, save your image as a JPEG starting with the medium setting. Check and see how your image looks. Most of the time, this setting works great. If there are large areas of one color, you may get jpeg artifacts in which case choose the next higher setting until these artifacts disappear. No need to do this though if your image looks fine. It just makes for a larger file size with no greater return for the time to download.
- Once you are satisfied with the look of the image, hit save. You can then submit it using the "Submit Photos" link above
