Dodge & Burn using Photoshop
Sam Ritter October 9.2007
Sam Ritter showed a technique for burning and dodging.
The technique included the following steps:
- Make a new layer: Go to Layers and select New.
- Make the foreground color to 50% gray.
- Fill the new layer with gray color. The image will be covered with gray color.
- Change the blend mode to overlay and you will see the image again.
- Make the foreground colors to black and white.
- Select a soft brush of appropriate size and paint with black wherever you want to burn color in and paint with white wherever you want to lighten the color.
Amount of burn and dodge is controlled by opacity of the brush and opacity of the gray layer.
