How to use PS and Helicon software for focus blending

STEPS FOR USING HELICON SOFTWARE TO EXTEND DEPTH OF FIELD (WINDOWS)
http://www.heliconsoft.com
- Double click Helicon icon.
- File > Add new item.
- Browse to files you want to merge.
- Select > open.
- Selected files will appear on right hand side of screen with green check mark.
- Select method B (for sharpest image)
- See notes at bottom of page for using Radius and Smoothing settings. I used 4 and 2 respectively.
- Run
- Click on icon of floppy disc in top toolbar.
- Key in file name. Save. Watch graph on lower right portion of screen to see progress.
- CTL-Q to exit. You're done.
STEPS FOR USING PHOTOSHOP CS4 TO EXTEND DEPTH OF FIELD
Example Uses 2 Images
- Open PS.
- File > Open > select files > open.
- If RAW files, select all > Open Images.
- CTL-A to select 2nd file opened. Move to first file opened.
- Close 2nd file opened.
- You now have 1 file with 2 layers (1st file opened plus 2nd file opened).
- Double click background layers to make it layer 0.
- Select both layers.
- Edit > Auto-Align layers.
- Edit > Auto-Blend layers. Check ìStack Imagesî and "Seamless Tones & Colors".
- Blended file will have been created based on sharpness.
- Save.
- You're done.
