How to use PS and Helicon software for focus blending

STEPS FOR USING HELICON SOFTWARE TO EXTEND DEPTH OF FIELD (WINDOWS)

• Double click Helicon icon.
• File > Add new item.
• Browse to files you want to merge.
• Select > open.
• Selected files will appear on right hand side of screen with green check mark.
• Select method B (for sharpest image)
• See notes at bottom of page for using Radius and Smoothing settings. I used 4 and 2 respectively.
• Run
• Click on icon of floppy disc in top toolbar.
• Key in file name. Save. Watch graph on lower right portion of screen to see progress.
• CTL-Q to exit. You're done.

STEPS FOR USING PHOTOSHOP CS4 TO EXTEND DEPTH OF FIELD
Example Uses 2 Images

• Open PS.
• File > Open > select files > open.
• If RAW files, select all > Open Images.
• CTL-A to select 2nd file opened. Move to first file opened.
• Close 2nd file opened.
• You now have 1 file with 2 layers (1st file opened plus 2nd file opened).
• Double click background layers to make it layer 0.
• Select both layers.
• Edit > Auto-Align layers.
• Edit > Auto-Blend layers. Check ìStack Imagesî and "Seamless Tones & Colors".
• Blended file will have been created based on sharpness.
• Save.
• You're done.
