Divisional Scholarship
You must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be an in-district student.
  • You have completed 30 credit hours.
  • Your grade point average is 3.5.
  • Turn in your application by June 16.

Scholarships include tuition and a book allowance in 26 academic areas. One scholarship awarded per area.

Honors Challenge

Special scholarship opportunities for two-year college students:

  • Arleene Quigley Memorial Scholarship: This $250.00 scholarship has been created to honor the dedication of Arleene Quigley. The recipient shall be an active member of the Michigan Region who exemplifies the hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa through dedication and leadership.   • Michigan Region Memorial Scholarship: This $250.00 scholarship has been created to honor the dedicated who have served the Michigan Region. The recipient shall be an active member of the Michigan Region who exemplifies the hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa through dedication.   • Susan Friedrich Memorial Scholarship: This $250.00 scholarship has been created as our way or remembering and of honoring this very special lady and advisor whose career best demonstrates what being a Phi Theta Kappan is all about. In conjuction with the Tom Obee Scholarship, this scholarship is awarded to any active member of the Michigan Region who best exemplifies the hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa with respect to the Society's current Service Project.   • Thomas Obee Scholarhip: This $250.00 scholarship has been created with the purpose of honoring a true gentleman and scholar whose actions best demonstrates what being a Phi Theta Kappan is all about. This scholarship is awarded to any active member of the Michigan Region who best exemplifies the hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa in conjunction with the Society's current Service Project.   • Barker Scholarships: If you are in need of financial assistance, please visit the Ann Arbor Community Foundation website. The Ann Arbor Community Foundation awards the Barker Scholarships to WCC students in the amount of $500 per semester. The deadline for this scholarship is April 17, 2008.

    Criteria: Demonstrate financial need, permanent resident of Washtenaw County, between the ages of 18 and 30, carry a course load of at least nine credit hours, have a declared program of study or major field, demonstrate satisfactory academic progress, maintain satisfactory progress (year-end minimum GPA of 2.0), be a non-smoker.

    REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS: Fill out online application and one letter of recommendation (dropped off at SC306) by April 17, 2008.
  • The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation: Awards approximately 25 scholarships to students currently attending community colleges or two-year institutions and planning to transfer to four-year institutions in the following fall. The scholarship awards will provide funding for tuition, room and board, books and other required fees for the remainder of the Jack Kent Cooke Scholar's bachelor's degree, generally two years.

    Candidates for this scholarship must be nominated by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Faculty Representative at their two-year institutions. Applications for the 2005 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Scholarships are available on the Foundation website www.jackkentcookefoundation.org
  • Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship:The Coca-Cola scholarship is merit-based $1,000 scholarship awarded each year to 350 eligible students. Nomination materials are sent to the Financial Aid Office at all two-year, degree-granting institutions in the United States in February. Each college may nominate two students for this scholarship program. (Eligible students should contact the college's financial aid office to declare their interest in being nominated by their college.) More information is available at www.coca-colascholars.org
  • The All-USA Academic Team: Annually selects 60 two-year college students for cash scholarships and national recognition. The 20 First Team members receive scholarships of $2,500 each and are featured in USA TODAY. Students must be nominated by their college presidents. The program is co-sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, USA TODAY, and the American Association of Community Colleges. See www.ptk.org/schol.aaat/announce.htm.
  • New Century Scholars:are the All-USA Academic Team nominees who scored the highest in their respective states. Each of the 50 New Century Scholars receives a $2,000 scholarship for the Coca-Cola Foundation and the Coco-Cola Scholars Foundation. See www.ptk.org/schol/aaat/newcent.htm
  • All-State Team Programs:in 32 states provide additional recognition and scholarships to the All-USA Academic nominees. See scholarships.ptk.org/allstate
  • The National Dean's List Scholarships: of $250 are presented to 50 Phi Theta Kappa members chosen at random from those who return their completed biographical forms. Forms are mailed at the end of an academic year. Members who return the forms will also be included in the National Dean's List publication of college honor students at no obligation.   • Phi Theta Kappa Online Scholarships: of $500 each are awarded monthly. To be eligible, enroll at getconnected.ptk.org
  • Guistwhite Scholarships: of $5,000 are awarded annually to 20 Phi Theta Kappa members. Guistwhite Scholarships assist members in completion of their baccalaureate degrees. Applications are judged on the basis of academic achievement and participation in Phi Theta Kappa programs. Members may obtain eligibility information and download an application online at www.ptk.org.schol/guistwhite; or request a printed copy from Fax on Demand, 601-984-3548, Document 9001; by email to scholarship.programs@ptk.org; or by calling 601.984.3504, ext. 566.
  • Leaders of Promise Scholarships: of $1,000 each are awarded annually to 30 Phi Theta Kappa members. Leaders of Promise Scholarships assist members in completion of their associate degrees. Applications are judged on the basis of leadership potential as demonstrated by participation in Phi Theta Kappa programs and academic achievement. Members may obtain eligibility information and download and application at www.ptk.org/schol/leadpromise; or request a printed copy from Fax of Demand, 601-984-3548, Document 9108. Applications for 2005 Leaders of Promise Scholarships will be available in January 2005.
  • Honors Institute Scholarships: are awarded annually by Phi Theta Kappa's 29 Regions. Your chapter belongs to a Region, based on the state, province or nation in which your college is located. Honors Institute Scholarships cover tuition, lodging, and most meals for the Society's premier honors programming experience, a weeklong in-depth examination of the Honors Study Topic
