The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society has recognized academic excellence in the two-year college since 1918 and has become the largest and one of the most prestigious honor societies in higher education. Millions of members have been inducted at 1,200 colleges in the United States, Canada, Japan, U.S. possessions and military installations abroad. At Washtenaw Community College, Beta Gamma Alpha membership is based primarily upon academic achievement. Invitation to membership would be sent to students who are enrolled in Washtenaw Community College. The student must have completed at least 12 credit hours of 100-level course work and have a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society will open new doors for continuing education and academic success. Phi Theta Kappa, unlike most honor societies, offers much more than mere certificate of membership. The organization offers great opportunities for scholarships, intellectual enrichment and opportunities for personal development through programs based on Phi Theta Kappa's four hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship. For more information about membership, contact (734) 973-3500. |
